SMIRNOFF BATTLE OF THE BEATS DJ COMPETITION UNVEILS SEASON CONTESTANTS

Nairobi, Kenya, 1st November 2018… The exciting new DJ competition dubbed the Smirnoff Battle of the Beats unveiled the 20 DJ’s contestants that would take part in the inaugural season.

The final 20 were chosen from a host of hopeful participants from across the country in a grueling two-week audition process that so the team visit several key towns to find a diverse talent pool to work with.

The contestants unveiled today will go straight in to Academy where they will be mentored week on week by the finest DJ’s in the country to find Kenya’s next big entertainer.

Speaking at official unveil ceremony KBL Head of Spirits Anne Joy Muhoro said that the overall team was excited by final contestants and mentioned that Kenyans should also be excited by the upcoming battles they’ll witness throughout the competition.

“We have had a grueling audition process to find up and coming DJ’s from across the country. Now we present these 20 DJ’s all eager and excited to learn from a wealth of talented Mentors. We believe the Academy phase will be another exciting chapter of this unique experience that is Smirnoff Battle of the Beats. Kenyans should also be extremely excited by these talented individuals set to grace their screens in the coming weeks,” said Muhoro 

She added, “Smirnoff Battle of Beats we feel whilst benefiting the Kenyan entertainment scene will also revitalize talent-based programmes that facilitate talent incubation and development, all key features of the Smirnoff brand.”

The competition feeds into the larger Smirnoff Mix Experience, an ongoing cross-country sensitization campaign to educating consumers on their perfect cocktails options including the Smirnoff cocktail jug serve

During the launch event, Smirnoff introduces four of their Judges DJ Hypnotic, DJ Exclusive, DJ Pierramakena and DJ Mellow who were the primary Judges during the countrywide audition processes and will be key mentor figures in team of seasoned entertainers ready to facilitate the growth of the next generation of Kenyan entertainers.

The competition targets the millennial consumer category, a key business influence for KBL’s. Through this targeted investment the company believes such platforms are the building blocks of a vibrant market a category that Smirnoff as brand relates and resonates with across the globe.
