A section of Civil Society Organizations to include the Elections Observation Group, Centre for Multiparty Democracy, Constitution and Reform Education Consortium, Transparency International, Electoral Law and Governance Institute for Africa and Mzalendo Institute in a joint press conference to give an opinion on the just concluded political parties nomination exercise has today urged the Director of Public Prosecutions Mr. Nordin Haji to prosecute corruption cases now and not to wait until after the 2022 general elections. This comes in response to a statement by the Director of Public Prosecutions who said that politicians involved in graft will be prosecuted after the elections to be held in August 2022

While responding to a question by the whistling African if the move by the DPP is strategic and geared towards not giving the said politicians political clout ahead of the August 2022 General elections. Transparency International Executive Director Ms Sheila Masinde said ;” Waiting until after elections to begin prosecution of the said cases will be justice delayed and a traversty of the same justice”
The group commended the use of technology by Orange Democratic Movement ODM, heightened security by security agencies and better organized primaries. Equally the group condemned cases of misinformation, and cases of election violence as experience in Nakuru, Migori and Homabay county.
