“. We do not have adequate data to support the re-opening up of the economy and institutions of learning..”

The statement above was made by the President of the Medical Association of Kenya Dr. Were Onyino during a press conference update on the Covid19 situation in Kenya early yesterday morning was a prominent a feature in his speech.

The statement follows an announcement by the Ministry of Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Maghoha who in a press conference flanked with various education sector stakeholders a few weeks ago made the unanimous decision to re-open institutions of learning as early as 18th October 2020.

The opening of schools the ministry argued has been made possible because of the reduced number of new Covid 19 infections.

The Association however in a press conference made early yesterday morning disagreed with this postion citing lack of adequate data to support such re-opening of schools.

due to low level of testing despite advisories
