The Kenya Association of Private Hospitals early yesterday morning condemned the arrest of directors, members of Staff, and the management of Shalom hospital following the unfortunate death of baby Ethan Pendo who succumbed to death owing to alleged negligence on the part of the hospital while seeking treatment in the facility. This the Association claims follows the previous closure of St Teresa Maternity and Nursing Home in Kikuyu the previous week which the Association claims was done unprocedurally
Speaking during the press conference held at a nairobi hotel, the Secretary General of the Association; Dr. Timothy Olweny criticized the county governments move to close the hospital without following the due process saying that in future such interference in the operations of hospitals by county governments is unwarranted adding that there is need to stem such interference by making certain provisions in the laws governing operation of private hospitals
