INAUGURAL CONFERENCE FOR WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION UNDERWAY AT CITY HOTEL

An inaugural conference dubbed Women Fundi’s in Construction Conference is currently underway at the Safaripark Hotel along Thika Superhighway.
The meeting themed: Lead Yourself, Build Your Network and Champion Inclusivity in the Construction Sector has brought together over 300 women engaged in construction to include: artisans, supply partners, representatives of government, regulators in construction sector, professional organizations and civil society organizations.
Speaking during the conference was Founder of Buildher Ms Tatu Gatere who said; ” We are giving women high quality technical training which is enabling them bridge the skills gap in the construction sector”. Also present was the Chief Guest for the event Deputy Governor for Nairobi County Dr. James Njoroge who said; ” We want to encourage ladies to be at the forefront in driving growth in the construction industry. He continued to add a construction sector report launched in 2021 painted the picture that the construction industry in Kenya will be able to grow at an average growth rate of 6.1% and I hope the women will be able to get the lions share of this growth. He further added that the county will set aside Ksh50 million to every ward within Nairobi and want to encourage women to grow their wealth using the funds.
The meeting was graced by first ladies for the counties of Migori and Kisumu County And Chairperson of the County First Ladies Association Hon. Agnes Ayacho, Hon Dorothy Nyong’o and Hon Alamintu Guyo.
