ELECTORAL AGENCY CHAIRPERSON IS NOT SUPERIOR TO OTHER COMMISSIONERS SAYS RAILA ODINGA LAWYER MWANGI

If you look at the qualifications used in the appointment of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC commissioners and the Commission chairperson they are all similar. They are all vetted by the same body which is the National Assembly or Parliament. They are also appointed by the same person and that is the President of the Republic of Kenya. They all enjoy the same security of tenure and security of Salaries. Therefore the commission chairman is not the Independent Electoral and Boundaries and Commission and the IEBC is not the commission chairperson.

The chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Mr Wafula Chebukati emasculated the powers of the other commissioners by taking the decision of tallying and announcing the electoral results as a single individual as He did when He announced William Ruto as duly elected” These words were spoken By Azimio la Umoja Coalition Always Paul Mwangi who was making submissions at the Supreme Court early today morning in a presidential petition filed challenging the declaration of William Ruto as duly elected by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

The Lawyer wants the election annulled based on these unilateral nature in which the Commission chairperson Mr.Wafula Chebukati announced the Winner of the Presidential elections at the Bomas in an event marred by scenes of violence
